The real world is suddenly overwhelmed by mysterious rifts that begin releasing monsters from the VR game “Chronicles of Arcana.” These portals can only be sealed by “players”—individuals who have awakened as their in-game characters, complete with all of their stats and abilities.
For Lee Hoyeol, however, awakening turns out to be anything but heroic. Instead of a cool, powerful avatar, he is forced into the body of a character he created during his awkward middle-school phase, complete with embarrassing habits, dramatic speech, and deeply cringe-worthy behavior.
Despite this unfortunate start, he becomes one of humanity’s few hopes for survival. The question is whether someone burdened with such an awkward persona can still rise to become the hero the world desperately needs.
